JDDraper Report post Posted January 19, 2015 I am kinda new to this awesome hobby. I've getting the hang of carving and tooling, even made a couple of knife sheaths, a holster and a few other thing, but now I'm gonna try my hand at dying. I have used Tandy's antique gel stains and had what I think are good results but those are pretty simple. I want to do some different colors on a Celtic cross design. From what I have seen on YouTube I need some small paintbrushes. If anyone has any tips to make it easier I would greatly appreciate it. Also what is the easiest way to clean those brushes or do I just have to throw them away and get new ones for each project?
Wild Bill46 Report post Posted January 19, 2015 To clean brushes and or equipment after you use them, As a rule of thumb, I use; whatever that medium calls for if its oil - I might use turps or turpintine, or Mineral spirits if its a water based paint such as acrylics - I use water if its Alcohol stain - I use Alcohol if its Oil stain - I use leather dye reducer Hope this might be the guide your needing. Good luck to you ----- Wild Bill46
