Where Can I Find These?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

This is my first post, so I apologize if this is not in the right area.

I am looking at starting some dog collars, similar to these: http://www.pacocollars.com/product/mini-ruadh/

but I'm not sure what kind of pyramid type rivets I should get (or more where to get them from to ensure they're sturdy enough), as well as where to get the stones. I know that springfield leather has some, but I am wondering if they are the ONLY place where I can find these and I just don't know where or what I should be looking for.

Thank you!

If I was going to spend that much on a dog collar I would want the edges finished, those look unfinished to me.

You can get them from Springfield Leather, Tandy Leather, or you can check out Ohio Travel Bag's website as well. The Pyramid's are spots and not rivets. And I agree with BIGGUN, if I were to pay that much for a dog collar (and I won't because I make them for sale and for my own pets anyway) then the edges had darn sure better be finished (and that is why I do).

Those look like spots, even the "gems" you can get pyramid spots like that anywhere Springfield, Tandy, even Michael's and Hobby Lobby.

I believe the edges are just part of their "look" - I believe all of their collars look like that. I personally don't like that and would finish it, but I'm just looking for the stones and the right leather at this point. I was looking into Springfield, just wondering if there was a place that would be cheaper if I'm buying a lot more stones at once. I do have a Michaels and a Hobby Lobby near me so I could actually see the colors in person, whereabouts in the store would I find them? I know the Michaels near me has a very limited "Leather" section, but I've never seen the stones near that area.

As for the leather, what thickness would you suggest so that I can have a good bit of sturdiness without stretching?

Hobby Lobby doesn't have a much bigger leather section than Michael's, but I think both stores have a section for fabric embellishments, which have a large variety of spots, which I think have long enough prongs for like 8-9 oz leather, which is what I would use for a medium to large dog. for gems I would use the Tandy gem rivets, I have never used them, but they look nice in the package, especially the turquoise.

Try www.sxindustries.com or do a search here in the forums for spots and you will find them here. Formerly Timco, I believe.

God bless.
