NewYorkerInSydney Report post Posted February 20, 2015 Hi folks, I am interested in purchasing a slim Bob Douglas awl blade or two as all I hear is how amazing they are. Im sold on that aspect. My only trouble is that when I look on the website, it says the awl is 2 1/4" long. Thats really long. My current blade is 45mm long in total from end to end (almost an inch) and only and inch of it sticks out of the haft. Thats the way I like it. I like short blades. So my question is, is there a way to order a shorter BD slim blade or a way to shorten it so it doesnt stick out so far? I won't be using it with his haft. Just my own. electrathon Report post Posted February 20, 2015 Clamp it in a vise with a piece of leather on each side for protection. Leave as much sticking out of the jaws as you want it shorter. Bent the excess piece over and it will snap off. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
