retiredff Report post Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) I bought a used solo motorcycle seat. It shows some signs of wear (scuffing) and fading. Can I sand the rough spots then dye it again the same color (black)? any issues I might run into? I think it's made from synthetic glove leather, it could be vinyl, not sure. Thanks Tony Edited February 21, 2015 by retiredff
benlilly1 Report post Posted February 21, 2015 Not sure if sanding is a good idea. Since you're not sure if its leather or vinyl maybe some polish will darken up the scratches. I would try it first before doing anything else.
retiredff Report post Posted February 21, 2015 OK. The underside has some of the covering that is not exposed, I'll do some tests on it before proceeding.

Chances are it is vinyl, and if so I would recommend Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric coating... Edited February 22, 2015 by Tramps Leatherworking
retiredff Report post Posted February 22, 2015 I found the seat on mustangs web site and ask what the covering is made of and how to re-color it if needed.
retiredff Report post Posted February 23, 2015 It's made of 100% expandable vinyl.
