Leddy Saddle, Not ML any ideas out there?

First of all, Hi to everyone. I just found this place and and all the happier for it.

Here's the run down.

I found and fell in love with a saddle at a local sale. Being a horseman and an amatuer leather crafter, I could not help but become enamoured with the tooling and quality of this saddle. I have rode it once and both the horse and I appreciated the construction of the saddle.

I will post pics tonight if my camera will cooperate.

I have talked to the guys at the M.L. Leddy's in Fort Worth and they stated it wasn't their doing and that I should talk to James' widow up in Abilene. I did and I have to tell you she is one of the kindest ladies you'll ever meet. Gave me a lot of family history, however, she told me that as long as she'd known him, James had never made a saddle. And she'd known him since she was 16 or 17.

Does anyone know of any Leddy's out of Abilene that made saddles? I hope to post pics of this saddle so all can enjoy the quality and craftsmanship that went into it's making.

I looked up Leddy in the makers book and the only one I found was M.L. Leddy. They are the only Leddys listed. And they never had a shop in Abeline. Would be interested in seeing pictures so maybe I can do some more research for you. Well, not only you but now you have me wondering.

In the Book " Saddles ", the autor, Russel H Beatie, call from a maker ,called Leddy but différent as M.L. Leddy company .based in Texas.

He call on Frank & Silas Leddy, in the 40' ,they have a company named "Leddy brother" and tey lived in Fort Worth.

An other company is listed as "M.L Leddy Boot Shop" based at Brady , but they moving to San Angelo in 1922
