Severase Report post Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) Hello all, I wanted to get a machine for my sewing of handbags and was deciding between the two above and after reading here I realized that the juki will scratch the leather and the t111-155 has an oil reservoir that collects a lot of debris. Can someone please help, I sew 3-5oz leather, veg tan, lamb, cow and kidskin and cannot afford to have any markings on my leather while finishing my top stitches. My budget is $1100. Any advice please. Edited April 6, 2015 by Severase
BigMatt Report post Posted April 7, 2015 I just got a Singer 111w155 and even though I am still working out the bugs, I love it. The bobbin size is a little small, but the walking foot can't be beat. I installed a cheap servo motor on it and it will go as slow as I want.
tossik Report post Posted April 9, 2015 Get smooth feet for leather and you should be fine. I just got a juki dnu-241 HS, and it should be a good light duty machine. For bags, you should consider a medium duty cylinder machine to sew your bags.
