Members wrluckie Posted April 20, 2015 Members Report Posted April 20, 2015 Hi, everyone. Hoping someone can help me out. Looking for your thoughts on a project. Had a friend ask me to make him a pair of working suspenders which will be heavily used in the outdoor environment rain, heat, sweat etc. The color he wants is a color I have previously done on a leather sling, which is eco flo gel antiqued (just a solid color, not much tooling). Curious if the antique will hold up with correct finish for such a project or if colors will just run. Thanks in advance. Quote
NVLeatherWorx Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 For something that is going to be exposed to the elements as much as has been implied I would recommend that you use a spirit based dye instead as anything done with a water based product has a higher risk of being negatively impacted by water. Just my opinion and I am sure that there will be someone else chime in to the opposite. I personally don't use water based products on anything that is guaranteed to be used in the manner which has been indicated. Quote Richard Hardie R. P. Hardie Leather Co. R. P.
