Members NewYorkerInSydney Posted May 6, 2015 Members Report Posted May 6, 2015 Hi good people, I've been contemplating the purchase of the Cobra Class 14 leather splitter complete unit. It seems to do a beautiful job at splitting veg tan. Anyone here have experience splitting chrome tan? I'd love to be able to split 5,6,7oz+ thick leather down to pieces thin enough for making wallets etc. How do you think it will do? I value your advice and opinions. Looking forward to your replies. BruceGibson Posted May 8, 2015 Report Posted May 8, 2015 I love mine. It's done a beautiful job on both veg and chrome-tan. And it will shave it down thin. If I had a regret, it would be that I didn't buy this thing ten years ago! (I've had mine about a year). Quote "Don't squat with your spurs on." www.GibsonLeather.com

BruceGibson Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 Nyis it's generally 3/4 or 4/5 oz. Most recently I split 4/5 oz chrome-tanned American Bison down to about 2 oz (paper) for a liner. It worked beautifully. Quote "Don't squat with your spurs on." www.GibsonLeather.com
