Members tossik Posted May 12, 2015 Members Report Posted May 12, 2015 Hi everyone, I have gotten some very nice water buffalo leather from a local supplier, and the leather is very thick - 5/8" or more, and I end up splitting it into like 3/16" or less for little pouches. The leather is very very soft, and I have hard time figuring out how to finish the edge so it looks very clean. Burnishing it does not work at all, and I applied some black edge coat and looks very unprofessional.. I have used some gum and then resoline on the edge and burnished it, and turned out okay, but still not very clean. Any advice? Here is the photo of the pouch and leather: Quote

Members Huntersilver Posted May 26, 2015 Members Report Posted May 26, 2015 Hi I work a lot of buffalo, what works for me is some quikslick from Sheridan. apply and burnish with canvas. You will not have the same shine as Veg tan, but a nice sheen and the fibers will lay down. Hope this helps. Michael Quote
