piheart Report post Posted May 28, 2015 Hi! Leatherworkers! I'm looking for a cylinder sewing machine which can sew leather bag. Just saw a consew 223 but it doesn't have reverse. Does anyone have this machine? my question is: what is max thread it can sew up? #138 or 207? second question: Since it doesn't have reverse, I wondering how to adjust stitch length? I searched online but all consew 223 are 223R ( with reverse ) and I think that reverse stick is also for adjust stich length. 3. The one I found has clutch motor, is it strong enough to sew leather? or just add some money to get a servor motor. Always thank you leatherworker guys! Wizcrafts Report post Posted May 29, 2015 The Consew 223R was discussed on LWN some time ago, in this topic. It is a fixed foot, needle feed machine, capable of sewing about 1/4 inch of medium to soft temper leather at very high speeds (3,000 spm). Due to the fixed foot, it won't climb up and down like a walking foot machine. But, it will handle #138 thread, top and bottom. It should be useful if you can get it for three hundred dollars, or so..
piheart Report post Posted May 29, 2015 Thank you Wiz!!! Appreciate always for your help! I just find out what is needle feed, think I would like to have a cylinder walking foot machine. Have been looking for one that costs around 1000 at most 1500 bucks and can sew up to #207 nylon thread.
