Members biker55 Posted June 20, 2015 Members Report Posted June 20, 2015 hello all, I have to make a small strap to secure my knife handle onto a sheath that I'm making. the leather is 8 oz tan leather so it's kinda thick. what tool or advice can you guys/gals provide me to accomplish this. I also plan on installing a snap rivet onto the strap. Thanks Quote
Members ramrod Posted June 20, 2015 Members Report Posted June 20, 2015 well, if you don't have a skiving knife, you could use a wood chisel. it should be extremely sharp. Quote
Chief31794 Posted June 20, 2015 Report Posted June 20, 2015 You can skive it with several tools: Bench Skiver (Best solution) Hand Skiver (next best) Round Knife (needs to be really sharp) Block Plane (needs to be really sharp) or buy some 4 or 6 oz leather, you can buy 2 square feet of Hermann Oak from SLC, get 4 oz, cut your strap from it, then use the rest to make wallet backs, money clips, checkbook covers, business card cases, phone cases, etc, etc, Hope this helps, Chief Quote
