When we adjust the chain, it rides quite a bit higher than "between the thighs." in fact, most people I know adjust it to be about one hands-width below the kilt belt [which is at the waistline]. And that ^^ sporran is called a "full mask" which is typically worn at very formal functions. Quote

I make mine flat against the head with the black side showing and it keeps them tucked away so they don't get knocked Quote
