Members setingm Posted July 5, 2015 Members Report Posted July 5, 2015 In my last bag I used Kydex that I bought on amazon for bottom reinforcement. It cost 10$ for 8 sheets. It worked ok but I am still not happy. I saw in Hermes videos and at Peter Nitz Facebook page some kind of material that I have problems identifying. First 2 photo is from Hermes. Members setingm Posted July 6, 2015 Author Members Report Posted July 6, 2015 I bought today "SoleTech Cloud 35-40" on ebay. It's material used during production of shoes. From pictures looks very similar. Will everyone know when it will arrive. Might be that. Quote
Members thefanninator Posted July 22, 2015 Members Report Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Bontex perhaps? http://bontex.com/front/bin/cglist.phtml?Category=8028 Edited July 22, 2015 by thefanninator Quote
Members Nuttish Posted July 23, 2015 Members Report Posted July 23, 2015 It might be sew in interfacing, which is a perfectly reasonable material to use even if it's not. Quote
Trox Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 I use Bontex and a other similar brand (I don't remember the name), it has glue on and you Iron it to the leather/fabrics. Tor Quote
Members DavidL Posted July 25, 2015 Members Report Posted July 25, 2015 This is what huns from this forum uses http://www.prescottandmackay.co.uk/products/general-tools-and-supplies/fabric-and-pattern-paper/leather-board. Peter nitz had replied to someone on Facebook or instagram saying he uses foam. You could go with suede (cheap) and/or specifically made stiffeners depending on the stiffness and flexibility you want. Quote
Members Nuttish Posted July 25, 2015 Members Report Posted July 25, 2015 If you're looking for alternatives, I just have W&C send me my splits and use those as bag bottom reinforcements. Bridle splits in ~6oz still have a nice temper because of the gum pasted backs. Quote
Members setingm Posted July 26, 2015 Author Members Report Posted July 26, 2015 Thank you every one for respond. I tried high quality foam from eBay. So far I like it a lot. I bought 3mm thickness for bottom. It's light, gives structure. Bag stays flexible. Much, much better than Kydex. Quote

Members setingm Posted July 27, 2015 Author Members Report Posted July 27, 2015 You can search on eBay for SoleTech Cloud 35-40 Durometer Crape Soling Sheet. Let us know how it would work for you. Quote
