Nelsonic Report post Posted July 6, 2015 Hi Everybody, I just started sewing about 3 months ago, using vintage "domestic" machines, learned how to refurbish them and thanks to all the great forum posts, I finally got a well cared for Consew 206RB-4 (yesterday, 7/5/15). Had to disassemble the table, etc. just to fit it into my little Honda Civic (after removing all the seats, that is). I'm interested in learning how to do a bunch of stuff but it's nice to be able to see what kinds of things people have done just to get an awareness of what's possible. I'll probably start with projects for around the house and for my dog and then move into upholstery work at some point. Anyway, great site and really enjoy some of the detailed posts shared in the forums. I look forward to learning all I can from everybody here and hopefully sharing stuff I learn with others, too. Nelsonic Report post Posted July 6, 2015 The funny thing about my Consew purchase is that it was on Craigslist and I was given all kinds of extras along with the machine, including books on canvas work, misc tools and ... a working Garmin GPS, something I've never owned but then I used it to get home while avoiding heavy July 4 weekend traffic. The machine did come with a servo motor but one of the things I'd like to do is add some reduction gearing to further slow it down. Is that something that a dealer would sell? Colt W Knight Report post Posted July 7, 2015 Howdy, I also have a Consew 206 that I bought used that came with a lot of cool extras. Mostly old cowboy carttridges for selling belt loops. You can contact Bob Kovar at Toledo Industrial Sewing Machines, and he can fix you right up with the speed reducers. He can also fix you up with thread, needles, roller guides, and presser feet. Others to you can contact are http://www.leathermachineco.com/ - Cobra Steve http://www.neelsaddlery.com/index.html - Ryan Neel ( I believe that is his name). All of those guys are full service leather machine dealers who know what they are talking about. Local sewing supply places typically don't know anything about sewing leather. The Consew did come with some feet, like a welting foot and really unusual and large feet to make marine-related seams, I think. Maybe when I finally break down and get a camera, I'll post some photos. If you have a local Tandy leather, you can cherry pick their stuff. If not, you have to order it online from a leather supply place like Springfield Leather Company, Zach White Leather Company, or Hide House in California.
