Hi

Complete sewing noob here I am looking for some assistance regarding a singer 211 G 166. I can going to look at an inexpensive Singer 211 G 166, it is not running and I only have a pic of the reverse side of the machine and have been doing research on-line.

Is the a bar on the reverse side the raise the foot via a knee lifter, I cannot tell from the picture, but from the manual it seems to be a large bar with a light chain attached, of course this part may have changed over time to something different.

As it is not running is there anything I should watch out for as spare parts are hard to find from what I have read on-line and even harder to find here in Ireland.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Here is the pic from the advert.

And tanks in advance for any insights

Picture is quite small. Yes, the 2 -piece bar on the backside is for lifting the foot. Seem the machine is using a knee lifter.

Since you are from Ireland I´d say College Sewing in the UK is probably a good source for 211 parts.

Seems the V-belt is missing or it it just off. I´d look if the timing belt is in good condition because replacing will cause some work.

The machine has a safety clutch maybe it has relesed (you say it is now running). I have a service manual and an operators guide as PDF.

Great thanks for that, does it look like the bar is there from the small pic? I imagined something heavier or thicker, down to my lack of knowledge.

I looked at the college sewing site, looks good thanks for the tip, even with the euro being weak, looks like great value. I may invest in a servo motor if I get the machine.

And here is the operators guide.

Yes the € - GBP exchange rate really sucks but still worth placing an order in the UK.

I`m buying 90% of my parts from College Sewing.

BTW - how much do you have to pay for the 211G166

Seems the rod and the smaller parts of the lifter is missing but maybe the parts are in the drawer.

The asking price is €150, so I'm assuming somewhere around €125 will get it.
