Members natenaaron Posted August 10, 2015 Members Report Posted August 10, 2015 I was loking and have not been able to find this information. I have never used Leather dye. I was wondering about their properties and layering the colors. If one was to use more than one dye are they opaque like oils and acrylics where you apply dark, then light as a general rule of thumb? Are they transparent like watercolors where you apply light then darker as a general rule of thumb? Quote
Members huffdad Posted August 11, 2015 Members Report Posted August 11, 2015 They are a transparent quality, in that you start light and work towards dark. Each application of dye darkens the leather, even for the same color being applied. For two toned effects, you might search for "block dye method" or airbrushing / spraying dye. Hope this helps Quote

Members jradford57 Posted August 21, 2015 Members Report Posted August 21, 2015 Does anyone know where to get a product like blockout that Tandy used to sell but no longer carries? Quote
mlapaglia Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Block out was a resist. You can use Resolene or and any number of other finishes that are acrylic or lacquer. Michael Quote
