Is Donkey Hide Just As Good As Horsehide?

I'm wondering if donkey hide is as good as horsehide.

I hear that donkey hide sometimes ends up at the Horween factory in Chicago where shell cordovan is produced. If the manufacturers can't tell them apart (besides the obvious size difference...), then are they of the same quality? They are of the same Equus genus, so I can see how they could be very similar or practically no different. The product application would be for shoes, wallets, belts, etc.

I have no idea to answer your question, but I would call the shoes, "stubbornly strong shoes". Wallets, "smart ass wallets".

How about every time you put your foot in the shell donkey boots, you can literally say that you put your foot up the ass of that one Jack ass.

I was talking to the master tanner at a tannery I often go to and I asked about the possibility of them making horsehide and shell cordovan and he said that not all horse breeds can be used for producing shell cordovan. So I doubt you'll be able to use donkey, BUT I of course really don't know.
