A Couple Of New Shotgunshell Pouches

Recommended Posts

So I made a couple of shell pouches to sell, but wound up keeping the stingray bag.

Bag number one, is a brown oil tanned, with a stingray front, and lined with 8oz. bullhide on the front and back panels.

Bag number 2 is a latigo leather, with a cayman belly front, lined with a high end 4oz. veg tanned.

Let me know what you guys think of my work. Take care, Josh.

Really nice looking from the outside - how do they work? Do you have to take them off your belt to open them?

I'm not sure I understand. They are for skeet/sproting clays shooting. You just pour the shells into the top of them. there is no closure. Here is a top pic.

They look really nice !!! The only thing I would change is the unpolished/undyed edge, but that's a matter of taste. In my opinion they would look even better with a finished edge. Is that your own pattern or is it available somewhere?

It's hard to burnish oil tanned, and dyes don't usually match, in my experience in trying to do that. Those are my patterns, that I came up with, through trial and error.

I wouldn't try to get the same colour like the bag itself, that's really difficult. I would choose a different one, for example black if the stitching is black, too.

Or I guess if I was going for a 2 tone look. I could just leave it natural, and not worry about colors matching or not.
