Russodges Report post Posted October 18, 2015 Hi all, new member here so be kind! I bought a no6 a number of years ago and have only recently put it all together to get it running. Two screws were broken off in the holes which have now been removed so I am in search of replacements. I am also missing another screw completely. I have got some Whitworth screws coming but they will have allen heads to them so I am hoping one of you lovely people may have some spare screws you would be willing to sell to me?! I would love to replace the screws with matching ones if at all possible. I have attached a photo, I am in need of another hex head the same to the one on the bottom row far left, another square head flange the same as the one next to the hex and two slot head the same as top row third from right and another shorter one. I have measured them but not ever having measured screws and threads before I am not entirely confident! The hex measures 3/16" diameter 3/4" long (excluding head) and has 48 TPI (I think!) The square head is 3/16" diameter and 11/16" long (excluding head) The longer cross head is 3/16" diameter x 1/2", shorter is 7/16" long and 5/32" diameter. I know this is a tall order but you never know, no harm in asking I look forward to hearing from you!
Constabulary Report post Posted October 18, 2015 I may have a few from my restoration. All screws have numbers on the head, can you post the numbers please. I´m almost done with my restoration, maybe you are interested in it http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=62817&page=1 I´d also like to see some pictures of your machine if you don´t mind. Russodges Report post Posted October 18, 2015 Hi Constabulary, thank you for the reply. It would be amazing if you had some screws spare! I think the numbers on the hex screw are 174E and the square head flange is 8L 237E but they are tiny so not entirely sure that is correct. The cross heads don;t have numbers. I will post piccies once I work out how to ... !
Russodges Report post Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) I did read your refurb post with interest, it is what prompted me to post myself as before then I was unsure as to how complete the remaining machines are, seeing as mine seems to be missing most of it's accessories along with some important screws! The real beauty is their simplicity which means it is repairable thank goodness. I do have the bobbin winder which now has a fancy new wooden handle rescued from an old and past it domestic Singer. It is without the wax tray unfortunately and it seems to have a different number on it to the machine so they may not be originally paired up together. Right, photos of my machine before I started on it (hope they work!). It is now much cleaner and has the broken off crews removed as well as the shuttle spring replaced etc. All I need to do is replace the screws then get the alignment correct and it should be good to go. It would be nice to repaint including the gold but I need to sell it on for financial/space reasons so that will have to be down to the new owner should they wish to do it.
