Members skylerbarger Posted December 4, 2015 Members Report Posted December 4, 2015 This is my first leather project, 4th or 5th rendition. 1 and 1/2 sides of kodiak leather later I am proud to post this. I designed it based on ideas of my own as well as inspiration from the internet. I wasn't very efficient with this project due to the fact that I was learning. I could've done smaller and simpler projects but I am one of those that once an idea is in my head it won't come out until brought to fruition. There is much more to learn and I am excited to continue doing more and more. This was a very enjoyable project to complete. I invite you to look and offer suggestions on what you like and what could be improved. Thanks for looking. On to the saddle borne gun scabbard... hundreds more $$$ in leather here I come (not by choice). Recommendation for leather? Happy Friday Quote

Members Zanderman489 Posted December 5, 2015 Members Report Posted December 5, 2015 (edited) Looks fantastic, man. Is that a canvas on the inside? I love the earth tones color scheme. I think the only thing I'd do differently is the strap. Is there any reason you made it segmented into three pieces? Does removing the center part make it into a handle rather than a strap? I haven't made bags yet, but I would be psyched if my first one came out half as good as this. EDIT: Also, my curiousity is wondering what the inside of the zipper pocket looks like! Members skylerbarger Posted December 5, 2015 Author Members Report Posted December 5, 2015 Zanderman489- That is correct. The center segment is removable and makes a handle. The center strap is adjustable as far as length also. I wanted a unique look and I didn't want the brass hardware rubbing on the side of the bag. I did use canvas on the inside. The zippered pouch is just a very simple pouch. Nothing fancy, I used the sewing machine (I'm learning the wife's sewing machine) to attach the zipper and to enclose the sides. I'll include a picture if I can remember tomorrow. Quote
