what oz leather for saddle bags

What is the best weight leather to use for Saddle bags for a motorcycle.

I'll be using veg tan for tooling reasons and the bags will get a lot of use and miles so they need to be strong and retain shape

I'm going to make myself a Xmas present.

Sawyer, I use 10oz leather, but you can also use a lighter weight for the gussets and line the interior of the sides with ABS plastic. It holds the shape great and they won't sag as easily.

I made these for my son last summer out of 10oz Wicket & Craig with chap leather gussets. We found a plastic box the right size and made them just to fit the box. So far they are still just like new.
