dbarleather Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Smith and TJ, I contacted a local plastic company. They usually have a "cutting board" type material that is awesome for cutting leather on. If I remember correctly, it isn't that expensive and really makes a differenece. I have had my bench covered with this material for over 4 years and it is still working great. Good luck, Daryl

indypbear Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Eagle. Call a local plastic company and they will cut you a piece of polycarbonate cutting material. It comes in several thicknesses- 1/2" is best. They may have a piece was left over from another cut. I bought an 4' x 8' sheet and had them cut it in half and we use it in two areas. They also cut us two 12" x 24" x 1/2" for $10.00 ea. It's the same material Hide Crafter sold in 12" x 15" x 1/2" for $17.95 ea (no handle or radius corners though). Be sure to get the textured material! Indy, is there a reason for asking for a textured material vs smooth?
Beaverslayer Report post Posted January 27, 2008 Eagle, welcome to the forum. The textured surface will aide in keeping your leather from moving around on the cutting board. A smooth surface you'll be chasing it all over the place. Ken
