I'm pretty sure you're thinking of spirit dyes. Cause they are an alcohol base. I'm not to sure oil and alcohol will mix.

Is it oil dyes that can be thinned with Rubbing Alcohol?

Fiebing's Pro Oil Dyes can be thinned with rubbing alcohol. It is still a spirit based dye, made with better chemicals and with a little bit of oil added - so little you will not even notice it ...

Hope this helps!

Biggest problem is you notice the difference when you pay for it! Have tried the oil dyes and can't tell the difference in the oil dyes and Fiebing's spirit dyes that I add neatsfoot oil to.
