MADMAX22 Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 So I read somewhere maybe it was on a website or something that talked about not putting camera lenses in leather cases because of some of the chemicals that could ghost the lense ( I guess fog it up basically). Now I dont remember if this was talking about antique style cameras which are a far cry from cameras of today. I dont even know it could of been a sells gimmick for something made of plastic. Anyways you guys ever had any issues storying your camera and accesories in a leather case. Any thing to worry about. Thanks for any info. Quote
ferret Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Every lens I've got came with a leather case and they're still ok after 25 years. I'd be wary of using chrome tanned leather on a case 'cos of the effects on the metal bits, but I've never heard of anything used with leather reacting with glass. Quote
Hilly Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 All my lenses came with either padded canvas cases or vinyl cases. Might be best to ask the manufacturer. Most online sources such as Canon or Nikon have "contact" links on their websites. If you invest as much as I have into quality glass for your camera, why take a chance? Quote
