Hello From The Uk.

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I used to do a lot of leatherwork with my Dad when I was a child, inherited all his tools a couple of years back and didn't have the heart to open them up, let alone use them.

My mother had a master plan that we would go visit a local leatherwork artist and find out where to sell them. Well it backfired... she signed me up for a local course and I can say its the best thing I've done in years!!

Made a few small things, and have been watching you tube videos non stop since :D Safe to say I'm addicted again! Here are a few things I've made, and after the handbag is stitched up and finished my first solo project will be making my mother a tobacco pouch.

(If anyone has any tips on how to get rust off of the handles of craftool stamps, let me know)

Welcome.

If it's surface rust, get some 3 in one oil, or sewing machine oil, and very fine wet and dry sandpaper. Be generous with the oil, then a gentle rub with the sandpaper, it should do the trick.

Once you have wiped the tools down, then If you have access to a grinder with a buffing wheel, just give the handles a bit of a buff.
