ClaireW Report post Posted March 5, 2016 Hi all, I used to do a lot of leatherwork with my Dad when I was a child, inherited all his tools a couple of years back and didn't have the heart to open them up, let alone use them. My mother had a master plan that we would go visit a local leatherwork artist and find out where to sell them. Well it backfired... she signed me up for a local course and I can say its the best thing I've done in years!! Made a few small things, and have been watching you tube videos non stop since :D Safe to say I'm addicted again! Here are a few things I've made, and after the handbag is stitched up and finished my first solo project will be making my mother a tobacco pouch. (If anyone has any tips on how to get rust off of the handles of craftool stamps, let me know)

LumpenDoodle2 Report post Posted March 5, 2016 Welcome. If it's surface rust, get some 3 in one oil, or sewing machine oil, and very fine wet and dry sandpaper. Be generous with the oil, then a gentle rub with the sandpaper, it should do the trick. Once you have wiped the tools down, then If you have access to a grinder with a buffing wheel, just give the handles a bit of a buff.
