treq10 Report post Posted March 10, 2016 Hello, I just purchased a Skirt Chaser from proedgeburnishers.com to use with a drill press. I mainly make strap goods on W&C English Bridle and will be using this burnisher to finish the edges. I'm worried that burnishing darker leather will leave residue on the burnisher and will transfer to the lighter leather. I want to be able to use this burnisher for both darker and lighter leather and was wondering if anyone knows of a good solution to this problem (if it's a problem at all). These are $50 a pop and I would really prefer not to have to purchase another one. At least not yet . Thanks! -Dave
Nuttish Report post Posted March 10, 2016 Try a rag soaked in naptha or acetone to remove wax buildup. It may slightly raise the grain, which you can very very carefully correct with a piece of very very high grit (1600+) paper.
billybopp Report post Posted March 11, 2016 I have one of the mini pro edgers that I use with a dremel tool, so similar to what you have. It does get a little dye buildup which can transfer back to other pieces. I've used some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to clear it off ... Works fine!
