Work space ergonomics for tooling

I was wondering if someone ever tried something like this for table for tooling.

 

Of course using a granite or marble slab instead of the wooden top. I'm wondering if that would work at all.

Cool table. I'm stressing over building a small work table for a machine I bought right now, I can't imagine what would go into making one of those. Just watch out for falling marble
