Moccasin machine

Recommended Posts

I know there is a wealth of information regarding the type of machine to use. Unfortunately I am finding it all fairly overwhelming. I'm hoping that some of you (and your expert knowledge!) can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!

I am looking for a machine (with reverse) that will sew leather moccasins and other various small items. I need to keep the cost down as much as possible (don't we all lol) and have been sifting through CL, but the options seem endless. So far, I'm thinking Juki 563, Singer 111w155 or Consew 206rb-4. Can anyone tell me what might be best? Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Thank you!

The Juki LU-1508NH is marketed as a moccasin sewing machine, by Juki. It can have a different rate of feed on top and bottom, to gather the soft leather or suede around the vamp. Contact a Juki dealer for more info. Adler also makes versions of their machines to gather the vamps on moccasins and properly sew the bottoms together.

Wiz has given you "a" correct answer but I am not sure it is the right one!!!!!

Shoe machinery is a very specialised area and you need to be very specific about the question.

There are a boat load of machines used to make moccasins;

Singer 17 - Seiko TE

Singer 18 - Seiko TF

Differential feed for the ruffled outsole

dual roller for the piping on top

compound flat bed for general sewing

possibly an insole seamer.

As you mention general leather sewing I can only think that you are after a flat bed or cylinder bed compound feed and would suggest a CB227 or similar such as Pfaff 335, Seiko CW8 (LSW or LSC), Consew 227 etc, etc.......
