Members chiefrude1 Posted April 26, 2016 Members Report Posted April 26, 2016 I am planning on making my wife a tote for Mothers Day. I will be using a similar pattern as the one I attached. Having never made a tote before I am unsure of the stitching order. From experience, is it easier/better/wiser to hand stitch the sides together first or the bottom and then the sides? I am planning on stitching the tote while inside-out and then turning it right-side-out after stitched. Thank you for your time and any help you can offer. Rudi Quote
Members Tommyboy Posted April 28, 2016 Members Report Posted April 28, 2016 With the style shown I stitch on the straps first, stitch the sides second, then stitch the bottom. Quote
Members silverwingit Posted April 29, 2016 Members Report Posted April 29, 2016 He stitches it with a machine but here's Arthur Porter making a similar bag. Michelle Quote
bikermutt07 Posted April 29, 2016 Report Posted April 29, 2016 Ian Atkins has a great tutorial on that very bag. He is very informative. Just search leodis leather. He also has patterns for sale to go along with the video. Quote
