Troy I Report post Posted April 27, 2016 Great work...but if I'm not mistaken...this cover is on a shotgun or at least your one photo shows four 12 gauge slugs in your ammo holder.
outlawcustomleather Report post Posted April 27, 2016 You are correct....I'm not a knowledgeable gun person, I leave that to the hubby...I just like to shoot them But we do make butt covers for both shotguns and rifles
Troy I Report post Posted April 27, 2016 You do great work...if not for the ammo no one would know the difference...if you did not include the ammo loops, I'm sure it would be interchangeable with both rifles and shotguns.

Martyn Report post Posted April 28, 2016 Very nice. Nice antiquing too. How did you attach the end cap? I cant see any stitches.
jleidel Report post Posted April 28, 2016 Those look like .410 shells. What's the best way to measure and lay out that single piece that wraps around the buttstock? I would be interested to try this as a next step to moving away from the canned kits (I'm new to this). What size holes and grommets are those in the lower stitching? Troy I Report post Posted April 28, 2016 Yeah you might be right, Martyn...they might be 20 ga.
outlawcustomleather Report post Posted April 28, 2016 Butt stock end was attached by hand stitching and holes are done using a #4 hole punch with 3/16 eyelets. Patterns are all measured and done by hand.
silverbullet Report post Posted September 18, 2016 Take it from me they're 20 gauge and even look to be slugs. Not birdshot for sure. I own every normal bore of shotgun and several in 20gauge. Still nice job on the cover . I'd be afraid of messing it up by using it. I always set the butt on the ground and lean it against a tree or post.
