Members GirlFromScandinavia Posted September 14, 2016 Members Report Posted September 14, 2016 My guitar straps yet again finnished. I dyed it with vinigarette and it turned out a nice bluish black. Ive carved out a name and also painted the letters it with acryllic silver colour. Now, id like to top it off with antique gel, black to get the little nooks and crannies hidden on the carved part but if i apply the antique gel on the whole strap, its going to be all black! I checked you tube, and the guy talked about Tan Kote and of course , i dont have a place to run to pick some up, so is there any thing else i can put on the strap generally that will coat it? Ive got acryllic finnishes but they dry off so shiny, the piece`ll look like plastic and i dont want that! What ive got at home are leather balsams and renaicance michro-chrystaline pollish, wadda ya say, should i just treat the strap generally to some balsam before the Gel? I dont want to end up with a blotchy mess.... Going to yhe grocary store now, hope someones got an idea! -thanks, Kata Quote
Members dm110 Posted September 16, 2016 Members Report Posted September 16, 2016 couldn't you just order some tan kote on e-bay? a lot of times they do free shipping so probably not too expensive. you could wait a week or so, or gamble on a quick fix that may not work Quote
