This is a practice piece I did trying out my new swivel knife, and new modeling tools. What do you guys think? Any critique is welcome, and appreciated.

That looks really good. How did you do the lettering?

Thanks for the kind words. I think I'll try coloring it tomorrow hope I don't ruin it. The lettering I did with a pyrography pin.

Would a pyrography pen be anything like a woodburning iron?

Yes that is exactly what it is.

Looking pretty good. I think you could really make it stand out incorporating a lifter or a pro petal tool.

Thanks. pardon my ignorance, but I think I know what a lifter is, but what is a pro petal tool?

Lifter, undercut, both are the same tool, just a different name.

Pro Petal:

Thanks for the info. Next time I'll give it a go.

Finally finished coloring it. I think I'm going to make a Bible cover out of it do you think that's too much?

Bible cover?! heh! I can see how this might appeal to some.
That's some very nice figure work-- the shading on those skulls is delicate shading but you pulled it off.
I wonder if it would have been possible to use two different reds at the same time on the roses for a stronger 3-D effect. They look a bit flat, whereas the skulls do not.
As another poster mentioned above, a lifter might help those petals pop off the surface.

Thanks for the compliment, and advice I'm definitely going to give the peddle lifter he mentioned a try.
