Brown64 Report post Posted October 29, 2016 This is a practice piece I did trying out my new swivel knife, and new modeling tools. What do you guys think? Any critique is welcome, and appreciated.
CaptQuirk Report post Posted October 29, 2016 That looks really good. How did you do the lettering?

I think I'll try coloring it tomorrow hope I don't ruin it. The lettering I did with a pyrography pin.
CaptQuirk Report post Posted October 29, 2016 Would a pyrography pen be anything like a woodburning iron?

Thor Report post Posted October 31, 2016 Looking pretty good. I think you could really make it stand out incorporating a lifter or a pro petal tool.

Thanks. pardon my ignorance, but I think I know what a lifter is, but what is a pro petal tool?
Thor Report post Posted November 1, 2016 Lifter, undercut, both are the same tool, just a different name. Pro Petal:

Brown64 Report post Posted November 4, 2016 Finally finished coloring it. I think I'm going to make a Bible cover out of it do you think that's too much?
DJole Report post Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) Bible cover?! heh! I can see how this might appeal to some. That's some very nice figure work-- the shading on those skulls is delicate shading but you pulled it off. I wonder if it would have been possible to use two different reds at the same time on the roses for a stronger 3-D effect. They look a bit flat, whereas the skulls do not. As another poster mentioned above, a lifter might help those petals pop off the surface. Edited November 4, 2016 by DJole
Brown64 Report post Posted November 4, 2016 Thanks for the compliment, and advice I'm definitely going to give the peddle lifter he mentioned a try.

Brown64 Report post Posted November 20, 2016 Okay I used a peddle lifting stamp. Does it look any better? The picture just don't seam to do it justice, anyone have that problem?
