TomG Report post Posted October 29, 2016 Have any of you treied that red glue mat Tandy carries now? I just bought one to try and it seems OK, but could be larger. But I'm trying to figure an easier way to clean the dried glue off than finger rubs, which is what was suggested. It works but it's slower than hell. TinkerTailor Report post Posted October 29, 2016 (edited) I use silicone parchment paper from the baking section of the grocery store. I fold it in half and stick the glue to itself, and it tends to peel back off of one of the sides. Do it a couple of ways and the piece is clean, that is if i am feeling too cheap to just rip a strip off the roll. Handy also to lay on things or slip into seams to stop stray glue spots. TomG Report post Posted October 29, 2016 I never even thought of the silicone parchment. I just happened to see this during a trip and since I had a bunch of strap ends to glue up, thought it might work. It works well, but it's time consuming to rub the glue off. A couple of spots would be no problem. But I have streaks all over it. But, I do like that it's reusable and folds up to store easily. I've got a couple of ideas I'm going to try tomorrow <g>... TinkerTailor Report post Posted October 29, 2016 I used to use butchers paper to protect the bench, but it is only kinda waterproof. Parchment isn't that much more, and works way better. One problem though: I had a particular situation where i needed to overlap the parchment and attach to the table. Tape will not stick.......
