Bar Stool help

Ok my "talent" if you want to call it that lol has gotten me into a little trouble, Showed my dad this waistcoat that I am currently working on (can't finish it until after the 5th thanks to supplier of lace going on vactation!!  http://imgur.com/a/MoIWL url if anyone is interested) he really likes the Mexican round braid work that I have done, and now he has this bright idea of doing this to a bar stool...or maybe a round cushion...thank the powers that be that I can use upholstery leather for this one, though he is talking about having me tool one as well and my tooling is no where good enough for something like that, I am getting there but to be honest tooling is not my strong suit currently maybe later on down the track but for now I am okish, told him I had NO clue how to even start something like that but someone here might be able to help me, either a youtube tutorial a book tutorial ANYTHING to help just get the pattern, the braid work is easy enough for me to do have that down pat thanks to working with nearly 200 feet of lace for ONE waistcoat lol. So where the hell do I start other then with the pattern and how do I figure out how much leather I would need and all that good jazz!!
