bkemp Report post Posted January 10, 2017 I've been covering a few books and have has a small case of this before but not the bad. The wrinkles form when the cover is folded back on its self. When laid flat you can feel where it has wrinkled. I suspect it is happening because the leather has to have somewhere to go. Can this be prevented by applying the leather with the page curved open like in the picture? This would make sense to me since the leather would stretch a bit when in closed position. Anyone have any experience with something like this? Thanks!
johnv474 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 I tried something similar, though not with books. It's worth mentioning that if you glue the leather down while curved, it will stretch flat as you say... but will also want to curl whatever it is glued to back, and the cover may not want to lay flat. I don't know of a real solution besides choosing stretchy leather.
