tinkerslane Report post Posted January 25, 2017 Hi all, so i've been making leather wallets and accessories for a while now and i've used a variety of leathers from various tanneries around the world but as a home grown, somerset farmer i'm now trying to focus on using english bridle leather thats been tanned in the UK for the things i make. My problem is that i'm struggling to find a UK tanned leather thats thin enough to form the internal portion of the wallet. English Bridle is generally supplied from 1.8mm (Sedgwicks) upwards but i'm looking for a maximum of 1.2mm. I obviously want to avoid chunky edges. I realise most of you will probably suggest skiving the edges thinner but before i do, does anyone have any suppliers of thinner bridle in the UK? Or alternatively another skin type that might do the trick? I'd be interested in what peoples views are.
gary Report post Posted January 25, 2017 I have heard that Marcus Gear (http://www.marcusgear.co.uk/) splits leather. I haven't tried them yet but another Brit may dive in. There's also AA Crack (http://www.aacrack.co.uk/) who have a good selection but it may not necessarily be sourced in England. Gary
