Members Inky Doc Posted February 10, 2017 Members Report Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) I'm wanting to know how to do that bubbly-looking effect. Also, I'm assuming it is simply block dyed after its tooled. Am I correct? Edit: the larger "bubbles" are the subject of my question Thank you kindly. Edited February 10, 2017 by Inky Doc Quote
Members CaptQuirk Posted February 10, 2017 Members Report Posted February 10, 2017 That is a matting stamp-https://www.tandyleather.com/en/product/m884-craftool-matting-stamp Quote
Members Inky Doc Posted February 10, 2017 Author Members Report Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) My apologies, but that is a different tool. I have that matting stamp, the entire face of that tool is about the size of a dime. The "bubbles" in the picture are each about the size of a pea. However, when there is nothing to show relative size the appearance is very similar to one another. Edit: The tool you referenced is what does the smaller, tiny bubbles next to the larger ones. Members cradom Posted February 10, 2017 Members Report Posted February 10, 2017 Possibly some kind of home made stamp? Quote
Members SolarLeatherMachines Posted February 10, 2017 Members Report Posted February 10, 2017 I think it still is a type of matting stamp, but not one that is available from Tandy. There are a couple of makers out of eastern Europe that sell into the US with tools that are like this. One of them, Sergey, is on here. You might ask him if this is some of his work. Quote Alexander
Members Inky Doc Posted February 10, 2017 Author Members Report Posted February 10, 2017 It looks like it would just be a tool with a rounded hemispherical end. Quote
Members SolarLeatherMachines Posted February 10, 2017 Members Report Posted February 10, 2017 Check this post and see if it looks like any of the tools there: Quote Alexander
