Red20 Report post Posted April 3, 2017 I am new to this sight and so far it has been very helpful. Sorry if this question has been asked already; I looked for it but didn't see anything on it. I have the opportunity to purchase a recently serviced consew 225 with servo motor and table for $600 (and a 1 hour drive) or a refurbished consew 255 rb with new(or like new) servo motor and a wheeled table (with brakes) for $950(and a 45 min drive) I want to use it to make leather purses/ bags and belts with all types of leather including veg tanned. I know the feed dogs on either machine can be a problem with scarring, but i think i would file down and smooth the dogs to fix that. is there any reason why one would be a better choice over the other? Thanks in advance! Sara
brmax Report post Posted April 3, 2017 Crazy as it is, if you google many many more results come up and best of all there from this site. I havent a clue why and find myself doing this a lot. Anyway at this point i like the 255 rb simply because it has reverse. I also like the model of singer it is a copy of. Many on here use or have both. Something to key in on is any numbers after the RB there up to 5 maybe 6 series now. The servo motors are simply nowadays needed. And honestly i dont think the most experienced on here would go without in a purchase, thats just where we are these days. So i like all this for the other cost. To be doing some small production in leather it maybe wise to look into an additional "part" of this setup and it is a speed reducer/ power pulley. Good day and a big welcome! to the site Floyd
