rharris Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Here is an album that I just finished for friends at Bobcat Pass Wilderness Adventures in New Mexico. Comments welcome.
howardb Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Very nice! Great rustic look to it. Finishing and tooling look great! Design comment: the bottom border of oak leaves - I think it would have been cooler to have started from the center and worked the leaves out to the edge to pick up the vertical pattern. It would add a certain symmetry. Still, a fine piece and I'm sure they will be thrilled with it! Brent
tazzmann Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Very Nice piece. I agree with Howard about the bottom oak leaves. Other than that I think it looks great! I have been wanting to try that pattern, but haven't had the time yet.
rharris Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Howardb & Tazzmann Thanks for the comments. Design is one thing I need to work on. After your comments and looking at the album I think it would have looked better to have started the bottom leaves in the center and round the corners. Thanks RussH
Hidemechanic Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Great piece. I agree in reverse about the leaves. You only have so much room to work with, as in you can only use two leaves on the bottom(and stay the same size as the rest) you will end up with a glob of nuts in the middle(or corners). Instead of starting in the center you could also end in the center. Leave the side leaves as they are but start your bottom leaves from the corners and work inward then the space in the center you could put a brand, monagram, your maker stamp, or a set of interlacing cutles(vines) with a couple nuts or so. Just creative thinking out loud. So what's on the inside?GH
