  5. Back in the late 50's or early 60's there was a Simons Western Wear in Albuquerque. I can remember a lot of saddles in the store but do not remember them having a saddle shop. Thats been along time ago so there might have been. My guess would be that Carl Fuqua was making saddles for them. I am not sure when they closed but I am thinking it was in the 70"s. RussH

  9. Panhandle Leather in Amarillo, TX also sells Clear Lac. I have been using it and can not tell that much difference between it and Neat Lac. RussH
  10. Bob Yes the dye does not penetrate as good after burnishing. I think it is wax and parafin. I can not tell much difference between it and straight bees wax. Burnishing while the dye is still damp seams to give it that darker color. I am still working to get a better shine on my edges. Not sure what I am doing wrong or what I need to change. Glad I could help. RussH
  11. Bob Here a a couple of pictures of the edge of a knife sheath I finished this morning using Ivan's burnisher. My order of edging after stitching is: Trim & Sand (should have sanded it a little smoother) Edging Dying Before the dye is dry I got to Ivan's burnisher Saddle soap and burnish with an old pair of Wranglers Finish with Neat Lac or Clear Lac Burnish some more with Wranglers RussH

  14. Thanks everyone for your comments. Hidepounder, I know that the finish on the edges were not that good. When I get rushed I tend to slack off on some of the little things and I know that those little things are what make a good project better. Will do better next time. Thanks RussH

  17. I have tried the transparencies with a ink jet and it will rub off unless you let it dry for several weeks. I finally bought an inexpensive laser printer and the transparencies work great. I did not know they made them for ink jet printers. RussH
  18. Bob My wife said you would have to fight her before it could be parked at your barn. Good Luck!! It is a 4 horse the last window is a side tack. The name of Jim Lovell and Mack Whites are familar but I do not know them. We have not lived here very long. RussH

  20. Keith and Others Here is the web site for Leather Coating, Inc. that makes the Clear Lac. http://www.leathercoatings.com I went to their web site and could not find Clear Lac, but their name is on the label. RussH
  21. Keith I can not tell any difference in the Neatlac or clearlac. Goes on just like NL, smells about the same, resist is about the same. They told me at Panhandle Leather that several years ago they could not get the NL and found the Clear Lac. Will get more information on it when I get home Tues. I have not poured them into a clear jar, but looking into the can to me the NL has a yellowish color and the CL is clear. RussH
  22. I got my Clear Lac from Panhandle Leather in Amarillo, Tx. I think it is made by CLI in Ft. Worth. I am not sure about the name of the company and I am not home right now. When I get back home tomarrow I will check the maker. RussH
