Leather Branding/Scorching/Burning

So I use fire on alot of my leather, to curl edges and strips, to darken corners, to give texture and shadeing and iv started useing wood burning knives to etch designs and images onto my leather, my friends joke I should call my leahter shop "The Burning Cow"

My question was to weather there is any place to get custom leather brands or other tools fur burning and etching...

I would like to eventually have my sig on a brand that I could stamp the back of my pieces with, I already have a design sketched out and everything.

Also just generally curious as to how many other leahterworkers use fire on there leather,

mayhap someone on here has some images they could share?

I know there are several that use lasers on leather. With good results I may add.

The biggest burning thing is wood burning, they have mutlitudes of burning tools in all shapes and sizes. Look thru the wood working forums and such and Im sure youll find what you need or it would be a good start.

I had wondered about useing laseres =)

do you know what type or how strong? I think that would really be fun to play with

I use a 30 Watt laser, love it. Sometimes burning hair on I have to touch up with a manual wood burner.

Versalaser is a good company. There are other companies that make them as well. Epilog is another manufacturer of laser engravers. They likewise have desktop and larger models. I have looked into other manufacturers as well. Universal, RedSail, Trotec, Laserpro and Gravograph are some other brands that carry these laser engravers. Here's the links. The only one that I would say would be iffy would be the RedSail models. After that you can perform your own cost benefit matrix to determine what best suits your needs.

Laser Engravers never even crossed my mind!

I had sat here with an image of a handheld laser pointer from the future in my hand =)

After living in the Rv for the last 3-4 years doing leatherwork out of the back of it, I had forgotten about things that require electricity.

I have no idea where my sewing machine went (need to invest in a new leather sewer soon)

and even my wood burner was tucked away and forgotten untill this last week.

My partner and I are moving into a new house with some friends and will have some space to spread out and do all of our work finally.

and now I think I might have to find a way to invest in one of these desktop model  laser engravers...
