I'm new to leather working, so I need some help. I bought a Kodiak leather side from Tandy Leather Factory and I'm unsure what to use to clean it. I'm making notebook covers and the leather feels like it needs a wipe down at least. Is Fiebings 4 way care okay for this leather?  Any recommendations?

If I remember right, Kodiak was an oil tanned leather. You may want to call Tandy and confirm that though.

I haven't really messed with oil tanned.

I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with.

Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day.

From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Pretty sure its oil tanned. I haven't really messed with oil tanned either, so I'm feeling stumped.  I have some Bickmore Bick 4 Leather cleaner and conditioner and tested a piece with it. The leather felt weird after using it, so I won't be using that! I could call Tandy up tomorrow.

It may not need anything.

On a scrap try this: warm it with a hair dryer and give it a buffing with an old t shirt. See what that does.
