Members Tomex09 Posted January 28, 2018 Members Report Posted January 28, 2018 Making a bag for my daughter and it has a butterfly on the front that I am going to paint. Questions is do I dye it first then paint or paint then dye? Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted January 28, 2018 Contributing Member Report Posted January 28, 2018 Either; dye or paint first, but oil last. If you dye first you'll have more vibrant paint colours, if you paint first you'll need to put a resist on the paint work but the dye might still tone down the colours a bit Quote Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Members Tomex09 Posted January 28, 2018 Author Members Report Posted January 28, 2018 Ok I know it took a couple of coats of paint to get it like it is in the pic. I didn’t know if the paint would show up if I dyed it darker. Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted January 28, 2018 Contributing Member Report Posted January 28, 2018 If its regular acrylic paint you're using, put down a coat or two of matt white first [after the dyeing] Quote Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
