SteveHolt Report post Posted April 18, 2018 Hello, I was wondering if any of you great guys/gals may be able to point me in the right direction of how this particular tooling is achieved. Is this done using a particular stamp? Thank you as always! (The stamping/tooling in question is done inside next to where the snaps are located)
TonySFLDLTHR Report post Posted April 18, 2018 Here is a couple stamps we carry that would get close to that texture with repeated strikes. http://springfieldleather.com/Stamping-Tool-E294-03-Special This one is not the same type but makes a nice field stamp like your picture. http://springfieldleather.com/Stamping-Tool-PA005
Gabriel Rasa Report post Posted April 18, 2018 The E294-03 is the one you want for that effect, I use it all the time in my work. It's just a simple Craftool stamp, Tandy sells it too if there's a location near you. One thing that I've learned since making the thing in the picture (and what I'm seeing in the picture you linked) is that you should be rotating the tool between each strike, so you get a more random and less "tiled" looking background. SteveHolt Report post Posted April 18, 2018 Thank you Tony and Gabriel, so much! Ive has this tool for awhile, but wasn’t getting the desired effect until literally just now after taking Gabriel’s advice of keeping the tool constantly rotated. Thank you so much Gabriel!
