Boriqua Posted April 21, 2018 Report Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) I just purchased a second 1 5/8 osborne oblong punch after cracking my old one due to my own negligence. The one I received has a round shank. All the pictures I see including the one posted by the seller have a hexagonal style shank While I dont care about the shape of the shank but what I do notice in many of the pictures is that the ones I find with the hexagonal shank seems to have a nicer taper. My own recently broken one was a round shank and it had a horrible taper that had way to much meat behind the edge and made it difficult to sharpen and use. Is there a first and second generation oblong punch? I think I want to return the one I received. Thank you for any advice Alex Edited April 21, 2018 by Boriqua Quote
