Probably should've cut the lining slightly smaller than the main body. Would make better edges.

Beautiful work. Are you looking to sell something like this?  Also, BUYLEATHERONLINE.COM  has nice, thin finished goatskin that I've gotten in the past. (Having said that, the only colors at the time were black and tan.)  The pigskin suggestion by another responder isn't a bad ides. It's pretty tough stuff, so if durability is more important than appearance, I'd go with it. Best of luck with your future projects.
