My Latest project a Ruger P89 DC Holster

I finished the P89 holster this am. Except for a clear acrylic. 7/8 wt. leather, Hand sewn with waxed thread, finished with blockout on the basketweave, neetsfoot oil on the inside, ecoflo prarie (sp) tan diluted in half with water, black dye on edges and wet moulded by hand. Turned out ok and I learned alot of details like the need to sew the belt loop on straighter and that I need to make alot more patterns to work out the kinks. Ta-Da

Personally, I think that's the best piece you've shown on this forum to date. Excellent work. You deserve two pats on the back.

Alot to learn, so little time LOL. I'll just keep on learning as I go. As soon as I can get some spare cash I am investing in the Bianchi DVD. And I need to get out more and visit some shops to look at the holsters out there.

Your P89 holster turned real well. The more ya build, the better you do get. Your stitching and overall design looks real fine too.

At least in my neck of the country, the selection of holsters in a typical gun shop is pretty poor. Mostly kydex "tupperware" and Uncle Mikes "frabricware" holsters. It never ceases to amaze me how people will spend $500-$1,200 or more on a handgun and carry it in a "crap" holster." I've sold a few holsters to the guys I work with at the PD. I only charge then enough to cover the cost of the blue gun. One guy thought I was charging too much at $40.00, so no holster for him.

Keep building then holsters.

In the spring I am going to do a farmers market thing again, and try a few other venues, by that time my work should show pretty good improvement. I figured to start at $89.95 and go up from there. The way I see it if a person wants one they will buy it if not, oh well, they can buy a keyfob or zippo case. I am going to take along some tools and stuff so the customers will see some of what it is all about. I read in other threads and elswhere that it is a pretty good sales tool, besides I'm just settin there anyway might as well play. Randy I can hear it now, just like the seinfeld episode " No Soup For You!"....."No Holster For You!"

Thank you all for the kind words and tips. It is great to have such an active board to post to. It really helps to get input good or bad for learning process. Well, it's on to the next project, my bible needs a cover and I need to learn to do zippers, so I can make some pistol cases too.

Jordan, your work has inspired me to make a holster for my HK USP along the same design. I think I prefer a little cant to the holster. Is this an original design or a modification of an existing design? In any case, I like it.
