Finishing technique

Recommended Posts

I just finished a holster I made.  I finished it with a technique I read about that Billy Hell uses.  One coat of Bag Koat first.  Let that completely dry then use Fiebings antique on top of that.  Wipe off excess and let dry, the finish with another layer of Bag Koat.  My question is, can my customer later apply neatsfoot oil on top of it?  I’ve tried to attach a picture but I guess the files too big.  I really want your opinions on my work.

Thank You,

4JA

When you seal with an acrylic or lacquer finish, oil cannot soak through so no need to try oiling after the finish.  But, you can use wax based conditioners to spruce up the surface and help prevent further wear.
